Experience what keeps the music together at its core! These five streaming concerts presented by Albert Hosp under the motto «Explained. Experienced!» No further explanations are needed, because this concert format speaks for itself: using excerpts from symponic masterpieces performed live. The musicians of the Tonkunstler Orchestra together with the Austrian music journalist Albert Hosp examine famous examples of the classical orchestral repertoire. Individual passages are explained and the «construction plan» of the respective piece is examined before it is finally heard in its entirety.
Richard Strauss
AN ALPINE SYMPHONY
Presentation Albert Hosp
Conductor Fabio Luisi
Richard Strauss' last major orchestral composition is considered to be his best-known symphonic poem. A mountain tour inspired the 15-year-old to make his first sketches; Strauss only completed his «An Alpine Symphony» decades later. It became famous not least because of its opulent orchestration. It offers listeners plenty of scope for associations.
